Walking the path

Ambedkar was a person just like us. He was one amongst us. To worship him like a messiah or a god would be a great disservice to him, because he was against hero worship.

He was a "Margdata" for us. He showed us the path. We have to walk the path ourselves.

The support, cooperation and companionship that Savitribai gave Jotirao throughout his life is extraordinary and is beyond compare. The ideal of equality between men and women and of peaceful companionship that they have set, transcends the limits of time and space. The path-breaking work that they did in the fields of education, social justice, eradication of caste and the eradication of priestly power illuminates not only the past, but also the present. It is a contribution without parallels even in the present times. This legacy of Savitribai will continue to enrich our lives forever.

A Matang student of Savitribai called Mukta had written an autobiographical essay, in 1855 when she was merely 14 years old. This essay is so important; it can be considered a superior milestone in the history of Marathi literature. It could well mark the beginning of modern Dalit literature. She writes, "These 'ladukhau' (sweetmeats gobbling) Brahmans say that the Vedas are their monopoly. The non-Brahmans are not allowed the right to study the Vedas. Does this not prove that we are without religion since we have no opportunity to even look at the religious texts? Oh God, please let us know soon which religion coming from you we should follow so that we can make arrangements thereof."

Constitutional morality

 

Constitutional morality is not a natural sentiment. It has to be cultivated. We must realize that our people have yet to learn it. Democracy in India is only a top dressing on an Indian soil which is essentially undemocratic.

Sharing geography doesn't make a nation....

Of course we are all 'anti-national'. for we do not belong to one nation. for we are not one. we never were. I share nothing with upper castes except their history of oppression against us and if this is what makes us one nation, i will let this nation die and rejoice over it. Sharing geography doesn't makes one nation. we may be anti-national to your nation, but you are not only a traitor but coloniser, occupier, exploiter to our nation.

Five PhD Scholars

In this post  , Dilip C Mandal has not written " five Dalit PhD scholars" , instead of that he has written "five PhD scholars" . And he has written "upper caste" professors. This makes a lot of difference in reading it.

Do not say Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula , say 'PhD scholar Rohith Vemula' , 'HCU science scholar Rohith Vemula' and say 'upper caste professor' , 'upper caste administration' , 'upper caste dominated administration of HCU' etc.

Do not write in the manner of upper caste media. The presence or absence of such words makes a lot of difference.

We have to write in such a way to locate their privileged caste positions. Read between the lines to understand the way in which upper caste media writes to harm us .

Are you a Hindu ?

Any Sikh , Muslim , Christian and Buddhist person can build a Gurudwara , Mosque , Church and Buddhist Vihar respectively for himself/herself and his community.It is because they own their holy books. Their faith belongs to them. 

But it is not so in "Hindus" . The only person who can build a temple wherever he(NOT she) wants is the Brahmin , the only 'Hindus' are Brahmins.

'Hindus' do not own their 'holy books'. They own nothing in their faith.

My rights over my religion

I am a Buddhist. If I want I can build a Buddhist Vihar for myself and my community. I can appoint any Buddhist person belonging to any caste/community to my Buddhist Vihar provided he/she is a person of good character , conduct and has a thorough knowledge of Buddhist canon. I will appoint a person who can propagate the teachings of Buddha is local language and will help people belonging every class , caste and religion through charity works sponsored by my Buddhist vihar.

Every Sikh , Muslim , Christian can say this for himself / herself. 

Can a so called 'Hindu' who does not belong to Brahmin caste say this for himself/herself ?
